Mold damage
Mold can look like faint-colored grey, green, or black water stains on walls, rugs, or floorboards. Hotels might strategically place furniture to hide mold. Heavy use of air fresheners may be used to hide the musty, dank smell of mold. Mold is a surefire sign of infrequent cleaning and improper maintenance, and it can be dangerous for those with compromised health, the elderly and small children.
