Maryland’s flush tax
The Chesapeake Atlantic and Coastal Bays Restoration Fund is more colloquially known as the “Flush Tax.”
The flush tax is designed to keep excess waste and nutrients from depositing in Chesapeake Bay.
The tax is a $5 monthly sewer fee and/or an annual $60 septic system use fee.
Residents can apply for Bay Restoration Fund Financial Hardship Exemption, if eligible.
