Look for a change of scene and have a fully remote job? There are several places around the country that will pay you to move there even if you technically work elsewhere.
Many of them are rural but certainly beautiful and quiet. And you get to catch a nice fat check for moving expenses, a house down payment — whatever you like.
Here are three job opportunities that will pay you $10,000 or more to move to a new city and work remotely.
Topeka, Kansas
Topeka, Kansas is located about 138 miles northeast of Wichita. Topeka has a population of about 126,000 and is sometimes called the Golden City.
The Midwestern city earned that nickname by the way the sun majestically shines on the city on a clear.
And the city is looking to expand its population with new people to revitalize its local business scene. If you have an employer who will allow you to work remotely, you can apply for the Choose Topeka work incentive.
If you qualify, you will have to move to Shawnee County in Topeka for an on-site or remote work opportunity.
If your employer can transfer you to an on-site job position in Topeka, you will qualify for $10,000 to rent for the first year and then $15,000 for a home purchase.
And if you qualify for remote work, you will get $5,000 to rent for the first year and then $10,000 to buy a home.
If you move to one of the delivery zones of the local Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, then you will get $1,000 worth of free sandwiches.
The Shoals, Alabama
The Shoals is a low cost of living area located in the northwestern corner of the state bordering Tennessee to the north and Mississippi to the west. The Shoals is a reference to two counties, Colbert County, and Lauderdale, which is also known as Florence-Muscle Shoals.
It is a small town of 13,000 and is located along the shoals of the Tennessee River.
To qualify for the Remote Shoals work incentive, you must have a preexisting remote job outside the city. And you must be willing to move to the Shoals within six months after being approved.
You must be making at least $52,000 and be over 18 years old. After approval and moving to the Shoals, you will receive $10,000.
Northwest Arkansas
Northwest Arkansas, also known as NWA, is located in the Ozark Mountains. The NWA Council, a local organization dedicated to modernizing and improving NWA is investing over $1 million to attract new workers and talent.
The Northwest Arkansas Council Talent Incentive will give you $10,000 and a mountain bike to move to NWA.
You must be at least 24, have two years of work experience, be willing to NWA within six months of approval, and already have a remote working position.
