The 3 Most Expensive Houses on Earth

The average American home features over 2,500 square feet of space and has a value of $300,000 to $400,000.

Getting a home is an American dream, but not an outlandish dream. If you are working class, you are not looking for a home for status, you’re looking for a home to raise a family and leave a legacy.

But what if you had the money to buy status with your home? What if you had millions or billions to blow on a home purchase?

Where would you live? Here are the three most expensive houses on earth right now.

Villa Leopolda, the French Riviera, France

Villa Leopolda is probably the most expensive private home in Europe and has the ownership pedigree to prove it.

The villa was once the property of King Leopold II of Belgium and was named after him. The 1955 Alfred Hitchcock film, “To Catch a Thief,” starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly was filmed in this residence.

The Safra Family, a famous banking clan, has owned the Villa Leopolda for decades. Villa Leopolda has over 80,000 square feet of space, 10 bedrooms, a small park, gardens, and a large swimming pool. Villa Leopolda requires over 50 staff members to keep it running.

The home has a value of over $750 million.

Antilla – Mumbai, India

Mukesh Ambani is the chairman and founder of Reliance Industries, which oversees a portfolio of businesses in Mumbai, India. Ambani is arguably the richest man in India and has a net worth of $90 billion.

When you are worth that much money, you can afford to bling out to your heart’s content. So, Ambani commissioned the building of the most expensive private residence in the world, Antilla, which is located in Mumbai, India.

Antilla is more of a privately-owned building than a house. It has 27 floors and over 400,000 square feet of space. Each floor of the building technically features the vertical expanse of two regular floors.

Antilla has six floors dedicated to housing the Ambani’s family fleet of luxury cars. The luxury home has a temple, a private movie theater, three helicopter pads, an indoor pool, and a “snow room” that creates snow when Mumbai’s temperature gets too hot.

Antilla is also structurally designed to withstand earthquakes too. Ambani’s home was named after a mythical ghost island that may have once existed in the Atlantic Ocean west of Portugal and Spain.

Antilla is worth $2 billion.

Buckingham Palace – United Kingdom

After Queen Elizabeth died on September 8th, 2022, her family, the United Kingdom, and her family mourned her passing.

However, the Queen’s passing also meant that a new ruling monarch would soon ascend to the throne – King Charles III. And along with a new status and name, King Charles III also inherited a new official home, Buckingham Palace.

Since Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the ruling English monarch, it is also the most expensive house on the planet. Buckingham Palace has over 77,000 square meters of living space within it.

The palace has 775 rooms: 80 bathrooms, 92 offices, 188 staff living quarters, 52 guest rooms, and 19 staterooms. Buckingham Palace employs a 24/7 team of live-in staff, workers, and security to keep it running.

Buckingham Palace is valued at over $4.9 billion.
