Four years ago, aerospace defense contractor Northrop Grumman and a few other smaller satellite companies were the only corporations that operated viable money-making products from outer space. In terms of profitability, Viasat, a company involved in satellites for broadband applications, has returned to its shareholders 34% over the past two years.
