Most mutual funds allow you to invest a small sum of money on a regular basis, rather than requiring you to invest a large sum once or twice a year. Dollar cost averaging means buying stocks with a particular sum of money at regular intervals, irrespective of the market conditions. That allows you to survive short-term market volatilities and build long-term wealth.
