A CDC study on the cleanliness of public water fountains found that 431 people were sickened by infections they caught from water fountains. Of those, 102 people were hospitalized and 14 died. There are no studies concluding that public water fountains transmit COVID-19. Yet most are shut off now and a Columbia University virologist recently suggested people stop drinking from them.
