In 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson accidently left a wooden stick in a soda cup on a freezing night. Epperson patented the, “Epsicle Ice Pop,” in 1922 but renamed it “Popsicle” a few years later. Financially strapped, Epperson sold Popsicle to the Joe Lowe Company in 1925. In 1989, Unilever bought Popsicle.
