In 2017, the Pentagon spent $28 million custom designing camouflage uniforms for the Afghan National Army. The problem? Afghanistan is 98% desert landscape. Soldiers wearing the uniforms would dangerously stick out. The Department of Defense could have supplied appropriate desert camouflage patterns for free.
