But if you are serious, there are several countries and American cities that will pay you $10,000 or more just to move there.
Remote Scottish Isles
Do you have the entrepreneurial spirit to move to a small Scottish isle, start a successful business, and bring attention and revenue to the local isles?
If you can handle relocating to a small, sparsely inhabited Scottish Isle, you could be granted £50,000, or about $60,500, to cover relocation your relocation expenses.
The Scottish government is looking to upgrade the reputation of the sleepy, quiet isles and reinvigorate the local economy with new, foreign-born entrepreneurial inhabitants.
One thing to consider is that the Scottish government has not announced which coastal isles are up for grabs yet. And you should be prepared to live a quiet existence on a remote isle for the next several years, if not longer.

Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a city situated on the banks of the Arkansas river and has a population of about 404,000. Tulsa is situated about 106 miles northeast of Oklahoma City and 175 miles southeast of Wichita, Kansas.
If you have a long-term remote job, are able to take care of yourself financially, and are willing to move to Tulsa, the local municipality will give you $10,000 to cover your relocation expenses.
The Tulsa Remote program will give you $10,000, help you find an apartment, the working space if you need it, and assist you in networking with local professionals. The program wants to invigorate the local economy by encouraging young, remotely employed professionals to move to the city and bring new energy to Tulsa.
You must be at least 18 years, ready to move within a year, and already employed or self-employed as a remote worker.
West Virginia
The state of West Virginia is looking to attract young working professionals to upgrade the image of the state and inject new ideas into the local communities.
The Ascend West Virginia initiative will give $12,000 to anyone with a remote job willing to move to one of the small rural mountain communities in West Virginia willing to accept new inhabitants.
If you are selected, you will get $10,000 during the first year of relocation and $2,000 the next year. Additionally, you will be given access to free co-working space, over $2,500 in outdoor recreation gear and events, and networking assistance with local professionals.
Ascend West Virginia will also help accepted applicants find a local Airbnb to stay temporarily to test the experience before committing.
