Commodities markets notoriously volatile
Even though palladium traders have profited, commodities markets are subject to wild swings that can be unforgiving on the relative standing of constituent precious metal prices. Given the substantial palladium/platinum price disparity, automakers may now find platinum to be a more economical choice for use in their catalytic converters.
