Foreign transaction fees
Bank and credit card companies charges a 3% fee, or more, for foreign transactions. Using a foreign ATM might cost $2 to $5 per transaction. Foreign-owned ATMs then have their own fees. It adds up. Use debit and credit cards with no, or low, foreign fees. Research banks with the lowest fees first, or just carry daily cash.
