What You Can and Can’t Take from Hotel Rooms

If popular culture TV shows and films has taught the public anything, its that its practically a God-given right to steal anything not nailed down in a hotel room.

After all, you paid for the room. Why not?

Not so fast.

Many items, like hangars, TV remotes, coffee machines, towels, and sheets, are a hassle for hotels to replace. And while more than 38% of thefts in hotels are perpetrated by guests, hotels don’t like reporting these crimes unless necessary.

Like when guests steal mattresses from 5-star hotel rooms. For real.

There are many items a hotel could care less if you took. But know the difference. It’s the difference between a shrug, being banned, or having the police called.
