WW2-era pennies were made with zinc-plated steel. In 1943, 20 copper pennies error strikes were accidently circulated. Don Lutes Jr. got a copper penny in 1947 as change for lunch. Lutes saved his penny for 70 years until his 2018 death. In January 2019, the coin was auctioned for $204,000 in Orlando, Florida.
