Check Your Drawers: This Collector’s Penny Is Worth $1.7 Million

1943-D Lincoln Bronze Penny

This 1943 bronze penny was accidentally struck when zinc-plated steel pennies were currency. About 20 other similar error strikes occurred in Philadelphia and San Francisco. This uncirculated-condition penny is the only one in existence from a Denver mint strike. Texas Rangers co-owner Bob R. Simpson bought it for $1.7 million in 2010.
